2022-2024 Dungog Common Improvement Project
On Thursday 10th October there was a community briefing held at the CWA Hall in Dowling St, Dungog. Approximately 30 interested members of the community attended, to hear Howard Glenn (DCRR Land Manager Board Secretary) and Daniel LeBlanc (DCRR, Development Director) present a detailed report on all that has been achieved during the 2022 to June 2024 period, via the Dungog Common Improvement Project.
Work towards fulfilling the ongoing Strategic Plan goals continue, including in land management, community engagement and organisational sustainability.

Concept Master Plan Report (DCRR - September 2023)
Dungog Common Recreation Reserve Trust have engaged Moir LA to prepare a Concept Master Plan for the site located at Dungog Common, Common Road, Dungog.
The project vision includes:
Improve circulation and wayfinding for all site users;
Incorporate a material palette that reflects the unique local character;
Create a welcoming entry sequence to the site;
Identify opportunities for public artwork across the site;
Minimise environmental impacts and impacts to user groups;
Incorporate water sensitive urban design principles into the site; and
Provide a master plan that assists in grant funding applications.
The final proposal has been informed by feedback received from community consultation, which occurred in early March 2023.

Dungog Trail Audit and Masterplan 30082023 FINAL-compressed-compressed
The demand for trail and nature-based recreation has grown exponentially across Australia, with user groups across multiple activity pursuits placing ever-increasing pressure on public lands being managed for recreation, especially those located nearby population centres and community.

Dungog Common Reserve Strategic Plan 2022 - 2025

The Dungog Common Reserve is currently managed by a Board of Crown Land Managers, appointed by the Minister for Lands and Water for the purpose of environmental and heritage protection, public recreation, rural services, and tourist facilities.
The NSW Government has reached an agreement with the Karuah Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) to resolve Aboriginal Land Claims over the land. The agreement means the land will be transitioned to the Karuah LALC, with the community continuing to access and use the land, now and into the future.
The Dungog Reserve Board is responsible for the stewardship and management of the land. This Strategic Plan provides a road map for the implementation and management of Dungog Common Reserve up to and including 2025.

Dungog Common Open House story boards
On Friday 3 and Saturday 4 March 2023 DDRR held an open House at the Dungog CWA Hall. There were 12 storyboards presenting the Dungog Common Reserve and its future plans. Dungog Common volunteers were there answering questions and community feedback was sought. In the attached document there is an A4 version of the posters that were presented at the Open Day
As part of the Open House there were several activities held at the Dungog Common Reserve

Rifle Range History Walk, which was guided by Allen Shrimpton
Gulugu Loop which was a self-guiding walk with info sheet provided by Clare Shrimpton
