MEMORIAL DONATIONS

Thank you to Judy Moore and the family of Neil Buckman for the first memorial donation to Dungog Common Recreation Reserve. Their donation has resulted in the installation of a wonderful picnic shelter in memory of Neil

  • Dungog Common was a very special place to Neil, that is where his passion for MTBs began when we lived at Glen Martin.

Along came a bike to ride at the Dungog common on weekends and Mudgee during the week for exercise as he worked away and that bike went everywhere.

Soon he became a member of Hunter MTB, Completed his first endurance ride at Dungog with his workmates which started a new passion.

They went on to complete many rides; Nowra, St Albans, Kurri, Tathra, Tamworth, Thredbo and the Port to Port 3 day ride.

With more rides came a better bike to add to the collection.

He loved riding with all the family and is sadly missed by all

    RIP Neil

In December 2023, a Memorial Donation Policy for the public lands known as the Dungog Common Recreation Reserve (Dungog Common) was created to begin accepting and managing donations for memorial purposes. The aim of the policy is to help maintain the integrity and long-term sustainability of the Dungog Common while respecting the wishes of donors and their desire to honour loved ones.

A first memorial gift was received in March 2024, honouring an avid cyclist. The family sponsored one of our new picnic shelters and we acknowledged the memorial donation with a plaque. For inquiries and to submit memorial donation proposals, please contact the Dungog Common Land Manager by email at info@dungogcommon.org.

At present Memorial Donation opportunities available (Updated April 2024):

  • Four additional and newly installed picnic shelters

  • Pump Track viewing shelter (planned)

  • Public sculptures (in consultation with Sculpture on the Farm)

  • Other major public infrastructure projects under development

Please contact the Dungog Common Land Manager by email at info@dungogcommon.org for more information or to discuss your how you would like to memorialise someone important or an event important to you.
